Fiction Friday: The Lacemaker

A cold, snowy day is the perfect time to curl up with this hot read.

Intrigue. Romance. Historical detail and rich settings. I’ve come to expect all these ingredients in a Laura Frantz novel…and The Lacemaker did not disappoint.

It’s hard to say what captured my interest more. I love the danger and risk that’s involved in the days of Revolution. I mean really, what’s not to love about gun-toting freedom fighters? Well, besides the possibility of getting shot, that is. And the political tension is really well-done.

But if pressed to choose, I’d say it’s definitely swoon-worthy hero Noble Rynallt that really kept me turning the pages. He’s a complex fella (as expected in a hero) and one who knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to go after it.

Though to be fair, I need to give a shout-out to heroine Liberty Lawson. This girl has a backbone. Not only is she determined to make her own decisions, throughout every trial—and there were many—she stays true to her faith.

The Lacemaker is the perfect book to curl up with on a cold winter day so go ahead and snatch yourself up a copy. Then make sure to clear your calendar because once you start reading, you won’t put it down.

About the Book:

When colonial Williamsburg explodes like a powder keg on the eve of the American Revolution, Lady Elisabeth "Liberty" Lawson is abandoned by her fiancé and suspected of being a spy for the hated British. No one comes to her aid save the Patriot Noble Rynallt, a man with formidable enemies of his own. Liberty is left with a terrible choice. Will the Virginia belle turned lacemaker side with the radical revolutionaries, or stay true to her English roots? And at what cost?
