What in the World is a Second Chance Coin?

Imagine Having the Power of Forgiveness Right in Your Pocket

So…if you were asked to write the quintessential Christmas story, what would you include? Of course there are the standard non-negotiables such as:

·      Snowflakes falling

·      Bells ringing

·      Carolers

·      Christmas feasts

·      Presents

·      A decorated tree

And the like. But when I was asked to pen some Christmas tales with a Dickens flavor, I wanted to go above and beyond the standard. That’s when I came up with a “Second Chance” coin…and it all started with Lord of the Rings.

Yeah. You nailed it. I’m that sort of nerd.

In Tolkien’s classic stories, there were twenty magical rings in total that were forged, but only one to rule them all—and it was that one that was lost for quite some time. And that got me to thinking, what other things might be forged that could be lost for centuries? Something metal. Something that would last. Something that would be powerful.

Now, granted, a coin in and of itself isn’t that powerful. Oh, it can buy goods and such, but what if the coin gave the owner the “power” of suggestion, to forgive just like God forgave us? In a nutshell, that’s how the second chance coin in the Once Upon a Dickens Christmas tales was born.

It would be pretty sweet if such a coin existed, wouldn’t it? A tangible reminder in your pocket to give someone a second chance, to pass the coin on to that person so that in the future, that awesome gift of forgiveness would be extended to yet another person. Well, guess what, my friend. My publisher actually had 50 of these coins made. Personally I cannot wait to hear the real-life tales of forgiveness that these coins will birth. And you, my friend, might be the lucky recipient of just such a coin plus a copy of Once Upon a Dickens Christmas.

Just enter the drawing. It’s that simple…simple as a little baby born in a manger two thousand years ago.
