Borough Market
Delighting Shoppers for Over a Thousand Years
Whenever I skip across the pond, I make it a point to stop at the Borough Market for some great meals. Believe it or not, this market has been in operation for the past thousand years. Yes, you read that correctly. It actually began as a bridge, constructed in 990. During the Victorian era, a railway viaduct was routed through the middle of the market, which brought in more people—but also brought in more noise, soot, and disruption. This area was—and is—a popular place to shop for food.
One of my favorite places to stop is a little booth that makes buddha bowls. A buddha bowl is basically a huge dish that is layered with lots of different foods and is usually very colorful. Personally I like a little spice in mine, so I always go for curries. But there are many other choices because Borough Market is a huge place. And don’t worry if you can’t afford the time or money to toodle over there because I’ve found lots of their recipes HERE.
In my new release, The Bride of Blackfriars Lane, heroine Kit Turner meets with an informant in Borough Market. It’s a great place for such a purpose, public yet crazy busy enough that no one will take note of you…and no one notices when she pulls a knife on the fellow. Why would she take such a risk? Well, you’ll have to snatch up a copy to find out for yourself.
To celebrate this new release, I’m giving away ten signed copies. Try your hand at winning one on the following Rafflecopter.
