Success in One Word

Every successful human has one trait in common.

The publishing industry is tough. Many of the writers who started back when I did are no longer writing. They took their ball and went home. Why? Because that’s way easier than dealing with rejection and criticism and the capricious whims of readers. It’s not an easy road to success. In fact, sometimes it’s downright impossible. But there is one trait of every successful author I know, and it’s the one thing you have to master if you have a hope of getting published one day. Want to know what it is?

Perseverance.

And therein lies an important life lesson because, you see, this doesn’t just apply to people who want to be an author. It applies to those moms out there who want to be a successful parent. To the business man who wants to excel in his career. To the student hoping to graduate and get a job. Perseverance is the secret to success. Granted, this isn’t the only ingredient, but it is a necessary one and one you have control over.

So whatever it is that you want to be successful at in the future, keep plugging away at it.
