Fiction Friday: Hair Calamities and Hot Cash
Romp from small town to big city in search of missing money, hair calamities, and love.
Today I’m letting a fellow author take the reins here at my journal. Let’s give a hearty round of applause to Gail Pallotta!
Hair Calamities and Hot Cash has its roots in my mother’s beauty shop in a small town at the foothills of the North Carolina Mountains. Clients gathered and discussed everything from new recipes to life’s milestones while Mother shampooed and rolled their hair. They planned showers, graduation parties and get-togethers for their neighbors.
They weren’t perfect, but they were kind, caring people. They had disagreements, but they didn’t hate one another. They had best friends, casual acquaintances, folks they tolerated and those they kept at a distance. However, if a crisis arose or illness struck, prayers went up and casseroles went out whether it was for a best friend or someone kept at a distance. They were all God’s children.
The walls of Mother’s beauty shop echoed the spirit of the community, and I wanted to bring it back, which is why I wrote Hair Calamities and Hot Cash. Here’s a blurb:
What happens when a New York stockbroker crashes his car into Eve Castleberry’s North Carolina beauty shop...on the same day the young widow’s defective hair products are causing wild hairdos? Soon Eve finds herself helping the handsome stranger hunt the thieves who stole his client’s cash...and hot on the trail of two of the F.B.I.’s most-wanted criminals! Romance blossoms amid danger, suspense and Eve’s hair-brained plan to get back the money.
