A Delicious Tea-Time Treat
One of my favorite things to do when I skip over the pond for a little visit is stuff my face full of pastries every time I see the chance to partake of a cream tea. I don’t mean just a little cup of Darjeeling with a load of cream in it. A proper cream tea is an afternoon treat usually consisting of tea, scones, clotted cream, jam and butter.
Gosh. I’m drooling just thinking about one. But this is common fare down in Devon. Up in Yorkshire you just might find a fat rascal on your plate. This bite of heaven is a form of tea cake that was popular in the nineteenth century—which is why I included it in my new release, Man of Shadow and Mist.
Now, I get it. You probably can’t just pop over to England to partake of this yumminess, but never fear. You can make them yourself! They’re not that hard and HERE is a recipe for you.
