Are We Living in the End Times?

Thoughts on a Year Gone Bad

There’s been a lot of ugly this past year. Putdowns. Shutdowns. Lockdowns. There was the loss of many jobs and freedoms. A constant threat of death and despair. And only God knows what 2021 holds.

Some say we are nearing the end of the world. That the book of Revelation has been flung open wide in all its four-horseman frightening glory. Are we living in the end times? That is a question better bandied about by learned theologians than by me. But I do know this…

Every morning you wake up, you are one day closer to your last day. Not one of us makes it out of here alive—a thought that doesn’t lend itself very well to celebrating a merry Christmas. In fact, just the opposite.

But (and I’ve always got a big but)…

Jesus was born for dark times like these in the world, in your life, in your heart. Two thousand years ago, hope was birthed in a manger. And that hope is still available even in 2020. There is life. There is promise. There is a savior born to us who bled and died and rose again so that you need never be caught up in the ugly of this world.

Seek that.
Seek Jesus.

From my family to yours, may you have a joyful Christmas season.
