Why I Write Romance

Whether you admit it or not, love is a need we all share.

It’s that chocolate heart time of year. Boxes of candy are flying off the shelves and roses are twice the price. On February 14th, everyone’s got hugs and kisses on their mind.

But as a historical romance author, Valentine’s Day isn’t the only day of the year that I think about love. It’s on my mind every time I sit down to write. Why?

It’s a need.

Of course I don’t need to add in romance to my stories, but I do because every reader has a craving for love. It’s part of the human condition. I use that desire to connect the story with my reader, taking them on a journey that has a happy ending.

Life is sucky sometimes. I aim to provide a little relief from all the negativity the world throws at us.

And that’s why I write romance.
