Skipping Sugar
Too much of a good thing is too much.
For the entire month of May I am officially sugar free . . . as in no ice cream, no doughnuts, no processed white granulated crack for me. Except for that one time I fell off the wagon when I visited some friends. Who can say no to a hot pan of brownies fresh out of the oven? Not a mere mortal like me. And dark chocolate is still on the menu. That's a non-negotiable.
But after nearly a month of skipping sugar, I've noticed a few things . . . I'm less tired. My pants don't dig in at the waistband. And honestly, I haven't missed the sweetness all that much. As long as treats are not in the house, they're not on my mind.
It's amazing how doing a little thing like cutting back on sugar can have such a big impact. But when you think about it, it's a principle that can be applied to lots of different areas in your life . . .
Want to write a novel? Then kick out one page a day. Just one. And you'll have a finished manuscript within a year.
Want to run a marathon? Start by jogging one block today. Bump it up to two tomorrow, and so on, until you've built enough stamina to register for a real race.
Have a relationship that needs mending? Begin by praying about it.
Monumental changes rarely happen overnight. It's the baby steps that lead to bigger things.
